Here's how your publication project succeeds:

  • Bring in the translators, interpreters and related service providers as early as possible; agree on project leadership.
  • Describe your objectives.
  • Describe your target group(s) and the country/countries involved.
  • Provide background information, such as:
    • special fields; demonstration of equipment
    • reference literature
    • terminology sources
    • selection of languages
    • language technology support needed
    • choice of media (printed copy, electronic publishing, print-on-demand)
    • the budget.
  • Introduce the people responsible, including text author(s)
    • at your site
    • at your partners' site.
  • Set down procedures for approval; agree on quality criteria and level.
  • Agree on deadlines.
  • Agree on file formats, postal services, Internet resources (E-mail, FTP, WWW, groupware), etc. to be used in the project; time schedule for intermediate and final deliveries.
  • Have the manuscripts read by the people responsible at home and abroad.
  • Have the manuscripts edited by Transco-op.
  • Hand over the manuscript files to the graphical designer.
  • Hand over the manuscript files to the webmaster.
  • Hand over the originals to the printer.
  • Give Transco-op feedback - customer satisfaction, schedule, functionality of intermediate and final deliveries and of the end product.
